Provides a 12-week program to help families gain the knowledge and skills to cope more effectively with their relatives with a mental illness. Participants learn about mental illness and its treatment, and how to problem solve, communicate effectively, handle negative feelings, help their ill family member recover, self-care, and advocate for their loved ones care. Facilitated by two trained family member volunteers, using a team approach. Personal support and counselling available to participants outside of classes, as needed.
